It looks like my lawyer has already mailed the application to USCIS. The priority dates becomes current only on July 1st.

How many years of years of W-2 form copies do we need to attach, when we file I-485 applications?
The more the better. Maybe you don't need to file them at all but rather than risk getting an RFE later, send them as much info as possible.
I sent all my W2 and tax returns since 7 years back...
An RFE shouldn't be too bad, you just waste a week or so. You'll be ok in any case.

The USCIS has been pushing proposals to change procedures of filing of nonimmigrant petitions as well as I-485 applications for sometime. The agency placed these proposals on its agenda this year and surely enough, it has initiated the first part of its agenda in its rule-making vault. The agency drafted and has been seeking the OMB approval for proposed regulation to require pre-registration of the H-1B petitions, apparently as part of its business transformation transition program. It appears that the proposed pre-registration requirement in the H-1B petition process may not bring a drastic impact on the H-1B petitioning employers and the alien beneficiaries. However, its agenda for requiring I-485 applicants to pre-register their intents to file I-485 applications regardless of the visa number availability in the Visa Bulletin will have a significant impact on the immigrants because the proposed rule would discontinue the concurrent filing process for employment-based adjustment of status applicants and would require that an alien seeking to immigrate based upon a classification that is subject to numerical limitations must be the beneficiary of an approved immigrant petition prior to proceeding through a revised adjustment of status process. In plain language, it means that it would terminate the current I-140 and I-485 concurrent filing procedure. The agency justification was to streamline the overall I-485 process and to mitigate visa retrogression through improved estimation of immigrant visa availability. This proposal is still in the vault of the USCIS rule-making agenda with the initial estimation of the proposed rule initiation action in October 2010. We have no information as to whether or not the agency will keep this schedule or will rather turn it over to FY 2011. Whether it initiates sooner or later, it will not have an immediate impact on the foreign workers seeking a green card as the rule-making process will drag into months to come in year 2011. But this is something one has to keep an eye on the development of the USCIS schedules of changes in application procedures. From my experience None of these issues matter.
I had I 140 approved in 02/06, no A# on the approval notice.But before approval, I had an RFE on this I-140, with an A#, on that notice, the same A# I had used for I-485 application form.But when I got the I-797 NOA for this AOS, it had a different A#,(July2 '07filer).
When I did not get reciept even by August 16'07, I filed a 2nd I-485, eventhough many people including Ms.Murthy advised againt it.I just did not want to miss out the window of opportunity of July Fiasco.
So I have 2 485s pending,I did finger printing for the July2 filing, never got FP notice for the second filing.My wife and son did FP for both I-485s.
I too was worried about these things, and was expecting RFEs on all these and medicals etc.

I know this is an immigration forum but I thought if I can get some valuable advice.
A couple of days back, the police forced into our apartment saying that they have heard a complain about domestic violence. I was surprised because the only thing that happenned was that our child was crying during that time. They came inside and started searching our small apartment and started to interogate me. In our bedroom, there is space where we keep our deities and do Puja. My wife is a little bit more religious than me - so she requested them not to go to that space with shoes on. However, they did not listen and just went wherever they wanted. This I think is a disrespect to other culture. Later, when they did not find anything, they just left. We were dumb-founded. We were scared too.... In our building, we are the only Indian/foreigner. This might probably leave a permanant scar in the child's mind when he sees his father interrogated for nothing.
Can someone advice if we can take the matter to someone? Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.
This is just horrible that you had to go through such an ordeal. In my opinion: There is no need to educate anybody. If they disrespected something you believe in, then shame on them.
If you are innocent the most important thing to remember in such a situation is giving consent to 'search'. Once you give consent then you might lose the right to fight against such an infraction. If you did not give consent and they 'forced' themselves into your apartment then it is against your fourth amendment rights. Now the next question you might want to ask yourself: Now that the incident happened, what do you want to do about it? If you do not want to spend money on a lawyer, contact your local ACLU or NAACP chapter and seek advice. You have every right to do what needs to be done to feel better after being abused. And more importantly, when you lodge a complaint (after seeking advice from ACLU guys and/or lawyer) it triggers action, hopefully those officers will get some kind of training on respecting other cultures.

Apparently, there are some fellow in my law firms, who got audited before September 2007 (mine is November 2007), and they havent been approved. So apparently, it is more random than FIFO.
It really sucks.

OP already mentioned the change was expected in the NOC list [On-Demand occupation list of Alberta]. Nobody told it would be closed after April 15. Did you see all the postings here before blaming others?

Well...my PD is current and my RD at Nebraska is also current as per thier processing times. But still no LUDs or any other updates so far :( (its been 19 days since my PD became current)
I already spoke to USCIS IO one week back, and was told its a bit too early, and wait for 45 days and call back if nothing happens until then. They weren't willing to give me the status whether my Namecheck crossed 180 days.
Just going to wait until April 1, and then call them again. Or get an INFOPASS . What do the gurus suggest?

I have the file numbers etc since I got finger print notice last year so am set up online to track the applications. But just haven't see the receipt notices come through. Should I be concerned?

Definitely a good idea.........the first thing that needs to happen is for us immigrants to contact our own employers (and if it is a big company - they will have some section that deals with govt affairs/lobbying) ask them to support our cause through action.......
I work for a small company, but my employer is a very decent man and may provide some funds..........(Christmas season and all!).

Wow! Now I have three green squares. So I am getting my GC on Monday:) Now if only more people were to vote for me and I get to 5 stars, I have been told that I will be made the USCIS director. Then I will reverse the July memo from USCIS and make sure that they will accept all the 485s till end of July.:D How is that for a deal? So keep voting on then.
P.P.S - Now again, what am I doing posting here on a Friday evening. My wife and son are getting really mad :eek:
P.P.P.S - I just checked the stats page and there are over 1,800 members online. Kind of satisfied to think that there are at least so many more people getting beaten up by their spouses now. At this rate IV will be one of the major causes for a sudden spike in the divorce rates in the high skilled immigrant community.:eek:

I agree - the UK govt's policy statement, at least on the doctor's issue was clear : "We had a shortage earlier, therefore we needed foreign doctors. The shortage no longer exists, so we no longer need you. Please leave before mm-dd-yyyy". Contrast that with the US govts "we love your brains but hate your bodies policy" .. on one hand corporations cannot do without foreign skilled labor, at the same time folks like Lou FOULMOUTH and his cronies in congress and elsewhere cannot do without bashing them. In the tug-of-war between these two parties, we are left to rot on the sidelines - neither kicked out, nor allowed a rightful place to progress in society. If thats the case, why don't they simply remove the dual intent clause (and all those 1-yr / 3yr dole-outs aka extensions) from the H1-B program ? Thats better than having to live 15 years on an H1-B.
UK is at lease clear what is their immigration policy. I would like to have similar stand from US Govt where they come out and say in clear words "we don't want to in here" OR "Come here, work for 6 years and leave" OR "we cant you to stay and fix the GC process.

Hello all,
it used to be that I would look forwared to the dat DOS cam out with their bulletin, hoping that one day i will be current. that day came last month when i became current. Happiness lasted for a few days, only to realize that those dates means nothing unless your processing center is current as well.
I am from Texas, so the dreadfull TSC is the center processing my application. Last date is march 15, and i am assuming they dont follow the same pattern as DOS, that is to say updating their bulletins every month on a specific date. I am also assumin that their date usually move in increments of days rather then monts, like DOS is doing now days. My PD is August 2005. That leave me 4 months or so before anyone starts to work on my case. I have seen a couple of have been called for interveiws with PD around same time as mine. I dont see any changes on my RD message either. It still sayd, we recevied blaha blah... Generic message letting me know they have gotten my case.
What do you all think when the date usually change. Since I am current, my day to look foward is not on DOS websiter, but USCIS website, hoping that they get to processing Auguts dates soon. I am afraid that DOS might retrogress again, and my current PD will beceome thing of the past.
