Child born abroad to Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) may be boarded if child was born during the temporary visit abroad of a mother who is a lawful permanent resident alien, or a national, of the United States, provided that the child's application for admission to the United States is made within 2 years of birth and the child is accompanied by the parent who is applying for readmission as a permanent resident upon the first return of the parent.

GC approval is always unknown even when Priority Date current and they club with diff criterias...:( fully a crazy system..

There is an option in US Greencard called “Commuter Permanent Resident Card”. Refer the link below for more details

This GC allows you to live in Canada/Mexico and commute to United States for work. Though you are loosing the year count towards US Citizenship with this GC, I think it’s a better option for anyone who wants to apply for citizenship in both countries.
(ie) Convert the regular Permanent resident card to “Commuter Permanent Resident Card” (Form I-90) -> Live in canada and commute to work in US for the next 3 years (Windsor-Detroit) -> get the canadian citizenship after 3 years -> convert the “Commuter Permanent Resident Card” to regular Permanent resident card (Form I-90) and settle down in US -> Get the US citizenship after 5 years.
The advantage with this approach is that you earn in US dollars though you live in Canada during the first 3 years.

Keeping H status for the Primary applicant (H1B) may sometime act as 'failover pair' ... But in these days of Highend Retrogression (specially if you are from India/China/Mexico) getting a GC would take 7-10 years - does it makes sense staying in H1 even for the Primary ??? .... I mean personally i've lived ( read 'did slavery') in US for sponsoring employees in H1 for 8 years and i wish to keep H1 as 'failover pair' but doing another 2nd term of slavery of 8 years till GC approval/denial comes - that makes no sense at all. While the poll can only show what we would want if we had our way, I would request our members to step back give it a thought and be a bit realistic. Did we not have only legal immigration issues in the bill last December. Why do you then hope that the house would suddenly change their mind and provide us a superfast ride to a green card.
A poll like this one would show the similar lopsided numbers like say what Lou Dobbs gets on his polls. Reason is - mostly people who want a more reasonable wait time for permanent residence subscribe to this forum.
I myself would vote to have a bill separately for us. But does that do us any good. Think about this. The current bill has good provisions for legal immigrants. Which of the two options would you choose.
(a) Would you want to oppose and kill this legislation because it provides undocumented workers with an opportunity to become legal and thereby cut your nose to spite your face.
(b) Would you first see the current bill to the end and then consider other options only if it dies.

Thanks folks for all the replies. I got to know finally that the employer can setup the LC to provide for any relocation. It looks like my employer usually does that so that the employees does not loose out in a relocation scenario.

Was there any LUD on I-140 case after your FP?

I think we can get some financial support from Housing Market !
Facts:

The housing market is slowing down significantly and there are millions of unsold homes out there.
More than 1/2 million people are stuck in the green card process. I am sure
most are waiting for green card before they buy their house and make longtime commitment.
I think we are a "Frozen" pool of customers for the Housing Market.
500000 H1B X 200000 (average house price) = 100 billion dollar market is just
inaccessible just because of retrogression.
I think we should convince them to help us FINANCIALY.
Please IV Core members take this idea seriously and at least
SEND A LETTER TO National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) president.

Consult an attorney and see if you can re-open your old case or port that date onto a new case. You don�t want to start your GC process all over again. It is a pain for someone from retrogressed country.

but look at the numbers, 1/2 million people means $100 billion untapped
market. Personaly I can't imagine any business community who wouldn't consider
this huge potential market seriously.(We are not poor
immigrants that they can ignore, we are professinals with good credit)
Who knows they might help a little to push our issues in DC or reach our goal of
raising 60K !
