The situation on the ground is this:
L-1 extensions for software related jobs are pretty much now dead. TCS, IBM, etc., are getting denied. USCIS has changed their definition of "specialized knowledge". Now, "specialized knowledge"means no on in USA has that knowledge and cannot obtain that knowledge through training.
Staffing companies; small companies or companies who are h-1b dependent (larger comapnies) are stuck in Vermont Service Center. There are some that aren't having problems but usually it starts with one case stuck in background check; followed by a few approvals; then another one stuck in background check and then all of a sudden all cases are stuck in background check. The scrutiny uscis is giving these types of cases is tremondous and they are denying all of them. Right now; if you monitor the forums you are starting to see the denials. However, vermont service center was sticking cases in background check since fall of 2007. Now; those cases are being worked on and denied. We are just at the beginning of this.
Traditioinal American companies; h-1b and greencard have become toxic and political. Many of them aren't filing greencards for people due to layoffs or too many poeple responding to the advertisements. I haven't seen h-1b issues with them yet. However, if they are not going to do GC then what is the point.

I am in same situation who has sept 10th ND from TSC , no FP for me or my wife. I did open a SR and i got a response letter saying that either your FP has expired or clearance has not been received.. will send one by mail soon.
It has already been 45 days since the letter was dated. NO FP nothing.
Has going to IO helped anybody is getting a FP notice? That seems my last resort.
No update from my side. I had called last week and week before that. Apparently I got the same IO the last two times and first time she told me no FP scheduled , security check cleared. Second time she said no FP scheduled and I asked about security check and she said its still pending. Imagine same IO giving inconsistent information regarding my security check. Answer to this:

This event cannot run based on MLM or false promises.
It can be successful only if every member understands their contribution and participation is key for this event and they are the one who can solve their immigration issue by taking this event seriously.

Wait for labor (go through labor pain..:-) ), do not get/expect promotion, Oh ya get your well educated spouse, Make them sit at home, make them feel unproductive, pay all your taxes, pay your social security BUT do not expect anything back, In the process if your kids age out separate them from you (send them back), If you wish to study pay highest fees, if you get promoted stand in queue again, pay frequent medical fees, AP, EAD fees, and yes YOU can always TRACK RNs for them. You can whine, post your opinions, when we change policies on the fly and create more hardships even if you have stayed here for more than 6 years, you can call up our customer service, be imaginative and get to level 2 and still get yelled at, asked to wait for 90 days (std reply), etc, but you can always go to good forum like IV and instead of working on your cause, create confusion, DEMAND action, not contribute....etc.

I guess I saw a mistake on the writing....
On July 13th, 2007, DoS provided a glimmer of hope to these aspiring legal immigrants, by announcing in their visa bulletin (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3258.html) that all Employment-based green card applicants and their dependents would be eligible to apply for their Green cards, during the month of July 2007
It is June 13th not July13th the first visa bulletin sent out by DoS.

Well, it goes beyond that. This is a "complicated story with no sub titles".
IV website is a board where people of all kinds visit and there is no control over stuff. Just go to any blog site - we see 100 rants and crazy comments as against a few wise talk.
I guess we have to live with it and keep pushing people. Sometimes loud and sometimes gently.
My friend, it is to "push the people" that I am saying all this. How best can we push? Through word of mouth, or thru full campaign?
Another idea: How about restructuring the forums?
In the home page, we promote only those discussions that are important to all, like advocacy.
In next tab, we take on the discussions that are based on individual problems
And all else, can go to the third tab
Also on home page, the following items (just some examples of general interest matter):
- Advocacy day. Donations received vs required.
- Big red button: Donate
- Some links to recent news items on immigration
Home page should have text content that introduces IV, its activities, and a small lecture on why skilled immigration is important

-Reach out to ALL lawmakers, target who are susceptible (Sen. Brown from MA for example)
-Use phone calls (Can we have a mass phone campaign)
-Radio shows (Do we have a Radio show in Washington DC where IV can get Air time. I am sure lawmakers do listen to Radio shows)

I guess it would have to be a pretty big and wild rally to have the police getting involved. :p
But Chandu raises an excellent point. There is much more to a rally than just turning up. Some one from core can probably help with detailed instructions.. these are just my thoughts.. feel free to add/correct.. (PS: I have zero experience in rallies, by the way)
First, I suppose checking with the local authorities and informing them of your plans, expected turnout, location, duration etc before anything else is a good idea. Bad idea to have have an unexpected crowd turn up randomly in a public place.
Organize placards, banners, podium, hand outs etc. Dont forget first aid kits, water.
Figure out who is going to be the spokesperson for the rally. Would be pretty silly if a reporter does come there and no one knows how to articulate well.
The spokesperson should check with core regarding message etc. This is important.
If there is critical mass for the rally, and the authorities are informed etc, then contact the local news and inform them as well..
Any other ideas/tips?

Please do a thorough research on how effective rallies are based on our situation. We do not have much political support - no government support, no public support - and not the least of sympathy though we contribute so much.
In case of unanticipated actions - we may never know if politically we will have any help fro higher ups.
Also - please check the numbers ( remember though a lot of people show enthusiasm in discussion forums, in reality you will find very less people taking part)
So please do your homework and do a lot of discussion. Do not hurry up and rush into rallies. A lot of rallies are done by disciplined leaders who plan these well in advance.

If you can make a concerted effort and we can ensure a large number of people will actually send the flowers, it would make a great media story. A wonderful splash on the media pages. American media will eat it up. Then get one of the IV core members to actually go on the air and explain the problem.

Funny... Sathweb took his post back, which even he does not agree with anymore and you now agree with it..
Point is very simple: If a person has a valid job offer then by all means go ahead and apply for H1 from any status (be it H4, F1, B or Z...) but if you don't have a proper job offer then please don't apply for the H1 visa through a body shop as you are taking away a valuable visa #, which unfortunately are very limited.
