USCIS can pre-adjudicate a case, even when visa numbers are not available. This means that USCIS processes all the application, but just waits for a visa number to finalize it.
Pre-adjudication. That would be really good. According to latest processing times, NSC shows July 30th 2007 for 485. So does that mean that cases before that are either adjudicated/pre-adjudicated or atleast there is an RFE?

Google for FASA and try to fill in the application for federal aid online. It will most probably be rejected as federal government does not provide loans for foreign students. But you need to fill in this to apply for loan in any major banks like chase, bank of america or wells fargo, salli Mae etc.
After you get rejection from FASA call any of the major banks and try for a loan. If you have a guarantor in United States with good credit score the loan will easily get approved. Even if you dont have some guarantee, just call these banks and give it a try. Who knows, you may be lucky and you might get a loan.

When the officer picks up a new case file, within minutes he know if there's Birth cert, substitute labor etc (remember he may have handled hundreds of cases). If the officer FEELS the case is complicated or needs an RFE, he may just put it on the backburner and pick up the next one on the shelf. That's why i'm trying to get my BC or NABC, even if i have 5 other docs with DOB.

Anybody else in the same boat?
I'd say proceed with filing 485 for now and later you can think about porting etc.
Rather try filing it yourself and save lawyer fees ($1500 per primary applicant and $2000 for primary + dependent? geez this is a special offer?)

I thought once an I-140 is approved, one carries that priority date for life.... (even if the 140 is revoked). At any point if he files another 140, the priority date can be ported.

THere are restrictions on applying H1B via multiple employers. THe candidate will be rejected outright. Read the recent guidance on the USCIS website. So hopefully we will not see multiple applications for the same person this year.

as folks mentioned above it is totally ok to not renew AP...do it if u travellin in the next few months...
on a side note...do people here know the average time it is takin to renew AP nowdays....TSC......paper and/or electronic..?
I had put in EAD renewal at TSC and got the approved EAD in hand within a month ...that was really good speed...anyone has info on AP approval timelines???
My AP got approved in about a month. I applied some time between 7-10 of last month and I got it on 10th of this month.

I would like to make most of the form thread details be accessible to members who had paid at least $100 or enrolled for recursive $20/month. We should make the thread heading very attractive and make it accessible to public. Core members should review all the thread headings, I think they are already doing it now. I can volunteer to this activity. I do have 8 years of experience in studying US immigration law, though I am not a lawyer, with my experience I can be of some guidance.

Provide advertisement (Ad), like we see top, right side and bottom page Ad in hotmail, yahoo etc. Apart from the flash, images Ads, we should also do Google text Ads. Flash Ad could be charged based on the space, number of page hits. Google pays 25 cents per click on the hyperlink for the text Ad. I had managed a project, which implemented the feature. I am sure we have lot of technical experts and get this implemented, very well.
Corporate Sponsorship
If a corporation sponsors money then most probably there will be some tax advantage. I do know IV�s tax code. Consulting companies could pay IV from our company account.

We can identify all our physician members and provide help for members and their parents in need. In turn the members who had taken help could contribute to IV�s good cause, in terms of funds, taking part in activities, etc. Hi the concept is very simple, if you had gone to a doctor, you will end up spending 2 hr waiting to see the doctor and then pay 150 to talk to them for 15 min. We will help you and intern you help us, or may be help yourself if you are a person going through the GC process. I can take initiative for this task, my wife is a physician and I know 20 other doctors who are in the GC process.

Is not it strange that IRS processed the tax refund before completing the ITIN processing? They could not confirm the current status of my wife's ITIN processing, as they could not pull out any details about the W-7 based on the information provided by me. They only guessed that it might be still undergoing processing. I wonder if they misplaced the W-7 form or something like that :-(.

Yes, if my LC will get approved in the iterim, I might be safe, but with no time left on the H1-B, and with the reduction of salary that will be applied very soon, I don''t think this is going to happen. Unless, as you said, I won't be lucky enough to get approved really soon.
Again your LC approval has no direct connection with what you are being paid currently. LC is for future job so I find it unlikely that DOL will factor your current salary in any way. They may consider your employer's ability to pay the stated salary on LC based on their finacial situation but your current pay stub should not matter.

I read somewhere that CBP officers are instructed to make a photocopy themselves if 2 originals are not given.
The photocopying is best left to them as the one you make has potential of having been tampered.
TSC is giving out 2 original copies. I think it would be better to leave atleast one original to CBP officer at POE. Better record keeping on their end is good for future travel. There are designated counters with parole stamp so it is almost gaurenteed that you will be sent to a different counter from visitors line.

I got EADs for me and my wife, but photos got swaped.

I sent in form G-325 for both me and my wife along with my I-485 instead of the G-325A as required on I-485 instructions by oversight. What do you guys recommend I do? Should I send in a new application or just send in the G-325A form with a letter stating the issue? Please help.

it seems they do use all the 4 pages of G325A (Check out section 3). But page 10 also mentions that if only one copy G28 is present, then the manual instructs the contractor to make a copy. Well, they might be able to make copies, but that is just a guess. And if you skim through this pdf it talks about various mistakes that the applicants might make and on how the contractor (guy handling the application) should work around it. So they seem pretty forgiving.
My advice is to call USCIS and inquire about it, sometimes they are very helpful.
