Since we are in a fighting mood, I will throw some fuel to the fire :) :)
When you think about it, reservation and quota system is actually a better deal for the upper caste.
First check out this picture, which details the population percentages and proposed reservations: File:PopulationEstimations.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PopulationEstimations.jpg)
As per the above picture, 52% of people in India belongs to Backward classes according to Mandal estimates. Since the proposed reservation for them is 27%, the reservation system works in favor of Forward classes as long as Backward classes are not uplifted from their current pathetic situation. Another way of looking at the graph is that 25.5% of people in India belongs to forward classes; and their share in the Indian pie in terms of higher education of job opportunities --> (100 - 27 - 22.5 = 50.5%). Personally I like this system, than 25.5% of us getting only 25.5% of our share.
To conclude:

Based on my limited knowledge, and what I have read in this forum, it would seem it's always beter to maintain your H1B non-immigrant status as long as possible. That was why I said that.
To clarify - are you suggesting that it is advisable to use AVR if you have both AP and AVR, and you have not used EAD or AC21 so far. Also, my spouse and myself could be returning at different times in to the country from Canada. Does this change the preference of using either AVR or AP. Since I am the primary applicant but of course we plan to land together.

Dear Mr. President:
This email is to register a strong protect against the visa bulletin released for Jun-09. In the tough time of 2009 that USA is facing, you are trying to do everything you can to protect the futures of the citizens of your country and I admire you for that. I would also like to point out that the visa bulletin pushes back dates for EB2 Indians to Jan-00 which virtually means no green card for Indians unless they are in EB1 category. I have spent almost 9 years in this country, legally. In 2005, I initiated the process for green card through EB immigration. While many others from different countries such as Europe, Asia and also China came here much after I have and contributed less than I have, they have gotten their green cards much sooner than I have and some of them have even become citizens. When I say I, a lot of my fellow citizens also face this unjust separate queue for Indians.
Please help me understand as to how someone from country A having a longer queue than country B coupled with an indefinite time wait is a fair and equitable treatment?
I understand that you feel sensitive to protect jobs of Americans in these tough economic times, however; it is beyond comprehension that while citizens of all other countries are being welcomed with no wait for green card in employment based category that there are virtually no green cards left for any Indian, even for those who have stayed here longest.
My message may or may not ever reach you but, I wanted to register a strong protest against unjust treatment meted out to me in the area of immigration.

The purpose of this letter is to impress the person you are sending this to. You do not do that by protesting and complaining. Your letter need to be professional, courteous and grammatically correct and pleasant to read. Remember, the purpose is to impress and sell your point of view to President himself. Poorly drafted letter may actually have a negative impact, especially when we are claiming ourselves as skilled professionals.
Achoo makes good points in other post. This is not to insult you and I know English is not our first language and most of us struggle with it including myself. But we should make an effort to get this right.

I think the above statement is correct. There are 1000s of EB3 I folks in IV and they could have very well contributed a quarter or even a million bucks. My question is, what will happen after that?

Thats right. I don't see any issues with EB1 or EB2 movement, For gods sake EB2 came to 2005, EB1 is current. It is funny when the other poster said we need to work for EB1 also(It is current, what else you want to do there?).
I feel IV has to concentrate on EB3 now. Period.
It's simple. USCIS needs to understand it's just a plastic card and nothing else. People who have applied are going to be here no matter what.The return percentage is going to be less.
The sad part is we are treated as citizens on all aspects. Social security, Medicare, Taxes, etc. etc. But not in the real sense. So US should realsise its after all a card and some benefits to the people things wont change. No amount of lobbying to fix the whole problem is going to help. The effort has to be concentrated just for EB3-Indians. Then we can expect some relief. Becasue we are talking about people who have been wwaiting for more than 8-10 years.
In India Lifesentences in prisons dont last more than 14 years. we could beat that record here. :)

My employer filed my wife's and my EAD paper based application on Jul 25, 2008 (TSC Received Date). But I still haven't received the Receipt notices for the same.
Generally how long does take to get the receipt notices?
Please let me know if any has filed around same date and received the receipts?

my app reached on 7/1, Recieved receipt on 7/11 with notice date 7/7. Remember 7/4 was a holiday. 8-14 calendar days is the most common i have seen for receiving receipt. Ask your company's lawyer if the checks are cashed yet, if yes try to get the receipt # from the back of the check. When my first EAD was filed last year, our corporate lawyer had sent me image of back of the check.

My checks did not get cashed yet...checking my acct daily..
see my signature, no receipts till date money order not cashed, Called USCIS got an answer.... "Not yet in the System", but IO told me there is a big junk of files and it will be processed in next 30 or 40 days.

A Employment letter is mandatory for I-485, the letter has to state that the job position is still available. Refer the below link from USCIS website

Well, just say that you will bear ALL expenses associated with filing I-485. That way the only expense for the employer will be a few cents to photocopy and give you the approved copy of I-140.
If you can get the employment letter as well, that's awesome. Otherwise, just use two recent pay stubs. And for those who are going to jump in and say, "No, employment letter is absolutely required...", well, it is not. It's good to have one in case USCIS want it, but not mandatory.

P.S.: I am guessing the net financials of your company must be $5000/year otherwise I don't see how paying for your I-485 affects the company's bottomline! :-) Of all the BS, this excuse is a winner!!

I contacted my Attorney (Its company attorney) and he told me that he will make an enquiry with USCIS. Apparently he has a list of all the pedning cases who are current this month and he is planning to send the list to USCIS.

I called USCIS today morning, response was by end of this (oct)month they will complete all data entry for I-485. He told that last week they did lot of entries for July 2 and we should see the receipt number any time soon.

thanks for taking the initiative and donating again manish1905. It is sad to see only a few 100 'active. Most people want to see results before donating, but most don't realize we can't get results without thousands working first for many months.
So its up to us to work extra hard to achieve things that will benefit 500,000 people.
Things like Visa Recapture, which benefit 100s of thousands benefit everyone including EB3, as there are only about 40-60,000 EB2s left.

Just called FedEx to find out why mine is not delivered yet. According to her, all USCIS packets remain at local FedEx facility. It seems FedEx will notify USCIS that there are packages to be picked up and they will be picked up by the USCIS agent (mail man??). It seems USCIS dont actually allow packets into their bldg. She says FedEX has no control on when the USCIS agent will come and pick up the package
