I don't think its much different from what is posted. Only one time contributions are being considered for this event.
I have a shared doc with StarSun and all known ones have been accounted for the above total.
Only one month left to achieve our funding goals.
It does look like there are only a few hundred (~200) willing to actively participate for the good of others. About 0.04 % of all EB2, EB3 filers.
One possible strategy.......
Dividing 50,000 into that, it will be great if you hardworking people, fighting for legal immigrants, can touch about $200-400 each,
while the rest watch from the sidelines and cheer for us :), and also debate & analyze spiritedly.....
I'm at $300 now for this event

Let me answer that. I am from Fiji but I was born in India so I am stuck with rest of you and for my family going back is not an option. Fiji is very hostile to indians living there so for us it's here or nowhere. May be india is an option but we have very few distant relatives in India as both of our parents has passed away.
Though it is a big shock for me and my family, I have to get over it and think about their survival after me.
My apologies if I have given the impression as GC greedy but I can understand how difficult it is for someone to understand how is life without something you can call a "Home"

There is no wrong doing by DOS by changing the VB, but the timing is wrong. They should have changed it as soon as they released it or else atleast by 25th or 26th to prevent some damage.

Problem: USCIS is not following FIFO
Why are they not following FIFO: Becoz they don't want to waste visa's. If I am USCIS what am I supposed to do. If I waste visa I get smacked. If I try to use up visa I get smacked ;) So what am I supposed to do with the limited resources:confused:
SOLUTION
Provide a provision for USCIS to automatically recapture unused visa's - this will give USCIS a buffer so that they don't act crazy in the last quarter - This provision already exists in HR 5882, this benefits everyone
Short Term - Gather a group of affected ppl and meet with USCIS and Immigration subcommittee chair's and present the issue and let Congress put pressure on USCIS to follow FIFO.
Note: My understanding is that USCIS is not doing any unlawful thing (guidelines aren't a law) by not following FIFO, but however it is unfair.

The Intent & Implicatins could easilty be challenged....I need not have to write how intent could be challenged, as fa as implications are concerned, country cap has given grief to certain section, while they are still living in the country...

We need a tough, smart and comprehensive approach to fix our broken immigration system. We must begin by securing our borders with investments in personnel, infrastructure and technology. We should require the undocumented in this country to register, pay a fine, learn English, and pass criminal background checks before allowing them the opportunity to become citizens.
Our immigration system is broken, and it cannot be fixed by passing one piece of reform, even a good one like the DREAM Act. We should address immigration as a whole, and that is a primary goal of mine here in the Senate.
As you may know, the DREAM Act, or Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2009 (S. 729), introduced by Senator Richard Durbin of Illinois, would amend previous legislation to allow states to determine residency for higher education purposes. It also authorizes states to cancel the removal and adjust status of certain alien students who are long-term United States residents who entered the United States as children. However, minor aliens who are eligible must meet the following criteria: entered the United States before his or her 16th birthday and has been present in the United States for at least five years immediately preceding enactment of this Act; is a person of good moral character; is not inadmissible or deportable under specified grounds of the Immigration and Nationality Act; at the time of application, has been admitted to an institution of higher education or has earned a high school or equivalent diploma; from the age of 16 and older, has never been under a final order of exclusion, deportation, or removal; and was under age 35 on the date of this Act's enactment.
Currently, the DREAM Act is under consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee. While I am not a member of this committee, I will keep your concerns in mind if this issue is brought before the full Senate for consideration.

When is the next congress session? is it in Nov/Dec (the so called lame-duck session). I am wondering about chances of having some immigration measures during that session. Being a lame-duck session, do congressmen can take up a serious measure like immigration for discussion (either CIR or SKIL)? If not - is it possible to introduce some highly desirable stop-gap measures like: ability to apply for 485 during retrogession; recapturing the unused visa numbers from previous years with soft country limits (as is done a few years back); and faster backlog reduction at BEC�s. In short I am wondering about our strategy for next 4-5 months; and is there a hope - however small it maybe � hope of getting something done this year; Or our only hope is with next congress?
Talking about next congress - I was wondering about what is the best outcome for us during elections? Does democrats getting majority in both houses is better for us or is it other way? Or a combo is best for us (democrat majority in house with republican majority in senate).
Statutory warning: I know this post is full of questions of general nature (i.e. there is no definite answer). I am posting to discuss/speculate the chances of any immig measures making it in �06 or early �07.

Well, you assume family members can get AP and EAD after submitting I-485. Not true for many people. Take myself as an example, I was not lucky enough to file my I485 in 2007. So with a PD of early 2007, I have none of the benefit from AOS at all.
Although for me it's not a big deal because my wife will soon get her PhD and will file for her own immigration petition. This actually works better for us, because it will make the line much shorter and both of us will get the green card much quicker.
However, for those who do not work and solely depend on their spouses to get green card. This change can spell disaster for them during the long wait caused by retrogression without the ability to file AOS.
